My Trip to the White House

On August 21, 2012 I was given the opportunity to travel to the White House. But this wasn't your ordinary stand outside the gate and take pictures kind of a trip. This was an experience that many only dream about when it comes to getting a glimpse of what lies behind the gates.

Tuesday morning I left bright and early from Durham, NC to partake in a Technology and Diversity Panel discussion with Todd Park, the CTO of the United States. While there, not only did I have the opportunity to network with various CEOs and entrepreneurs, but I had the opportunity to represent NCWIT and minority women as well. Sitting in on various table discussions throughout the day, I was able to receive different points of view and brainstorm different ways to increase diversity within technology. This opportunity was definitely one that words can’t explain, but I am very thankful to have had the opportunity.
