AiC Community Member Trisha Prabhu presented her anti-bullying app ReThink on Shark Tank on the season premier and reeled in Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner for a joint investment of $100,000! ReThink is an app that stops cyberbullying before the damage is done by encouraging teens to rethink posing an offensive message on social media before hitting the send/post button. According to the ReThink website: “Research shows that when adolescents are alerted to ReThink their decision, they change their minds 93% of the time…using ReThink, the overall willingness of the average adolescent to post an offensive message reduced from 71% to 4%.” Thanks to the success of ReThink, Trisha has been invited to the White House and been named a Google Science Fair Finalist.
AiC Community Member Sharon Lin was named a Champion of Change for Extracurricular Enrichment for Marginalized Girls by the White House recently. Sharon was recognized for her work as the Founder and Executive Director of StuyHacks and BitxBit Camp. StuyHacks is a high school hackathon which serves students in the greater NYC area, while BitxBit Camp is a nonprofit organization that aims to provide opportunities for middle school students in computer science in after-school enrichment programs for girls. We are proud to add another AiC name to the growing list of #WHChamps!
