- At this year’s Securing Our Cyber Future: SafetyNet Symposium in San Diego, California, AiC Award Recipient Betta Lyon-Delsordo was honored with the 2018 ESET Women in Cybersecurity Scholarship. The cybersecurity company ESET established the scholarship to encourage and empower more women to explore careers in this field. Learn more about Betta’s future plans in this article!
- Southern Utah Girls in Technology, an event organized by AiC Regional Coordinator Dr. Shalini Kesar, brought 190 high school women to Southern Utah University for a full day of exploring programming, robotics, and other STEM topics. Dr. Kesar noticed that many women who might enjoy and benefit from being part of the AiC community didn’t pursue it because they lacked direct experience, so she created this event to give them the opportunity to participate in hands-on computing activities. - AiC Award Recipient Bethany Chen was one of three high school students honored with the Philip V. Swan Oneonta Scholarship, sponsored by the Oneonta Club of Pasadena, California. The award recognizes young people with the potential to make significant contributions to society through their chosen career. Congratulations, Bethany!
- When computing meets the arts, memorable healing moments can occur, as AiC Award Recipient Meera Kurup has discovered. Meera’s work on an app that lets Alzheimer’s patients listen to poems recorded by family members was featured in this piece on the powerful intersections between poetry and technology.
- AiC Community Members Luann Jung and Stephanie Fu were among 18 students from five Kansas high schools selected for the 2018 Flint Hills All-Academic Team, sponsored by the Manhattan, Kansas newspaper The Mercury. Great job, Luann and Stephanie!
- AiC Community Member Eunji Lee was featured in this profile after being named Valedictorian of her graduating class at the Sacred Heart Academy in Trumbull, Connecticut. Way to go!
