- With the support of AiC Educator Award Winner Buffie Holley, ten AiC Community members from Albemarle High School in Charlottesville, North Carolina broke a school record for the number of NCWIT awards they brought home this year. This piece in Charlottesville Tomorrow offers a profile of Holley and her successes in making Albemarle’s computing program more inclusive.
- In this profile, four AiC Award recipients share about what draws them to computing and how their school’s computer science program has helped them to pursue their passions.
- This piece in Silver Chips Online recognizes the efforts of several AiC Community members for the work their student organization, Code Girls, does to get more women involved in computing.
- AiC Award Recipient Meera Kurup was honored with the New Hampshire High Tech Council’s TechStudent of the Year Award! Meera was recognized for her leadership in STEM education and her innovative technological contributions that help address a variety of public needs. Congratulations on this well-deserved award!
- A piece in the Digital Journal (no longer available) highlighted the Minnesota Affiliate Award for AiC and the impact AiC has had for women students in that state. In six years, more than 200 students have been recognized for their technical accomplishments!
- Rishika Maitra, an AiC Award recipient, was recently named a Woman of Innovation! This award, sponsored by the Connecticut Technology Council, includes a $4,000 scholarship. Way to go, Rishika!
March Shout Outs
NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Award Recipients have been getting plenty of coverage in their hometown news! This is just one of the ways our community members’ participation in the awards process helps inspire other students and open doors for women’s increased involvement in computing.
