AiC Community Member Siobahn C. Day was recognized in US Black Engineer magazine for being the first woman to earn a PhD in computer science at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Her dissertation focused on author attribution, privacy, security, and social computing, and contributes to a larger project of combating the proliferation of “fake news.”

AiC Community Member Khalia Braswell was featured in this profile when she left a UX engineering role at Apple to work more closely with INTech, the nonprofit she started to help young women of color explore computing in her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. INTech’s summer coding programs are already making an impact for middle school girls, and the organization won a People’s Choice award from Social Venture Partners.
