Day was recognized in US Black Engineer magazine for being the first woman to earn a PhD in computer science at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Her dissertation focused on author attribution, privacy, security, and social computing, and contributes to a larger project of combating the proliferation of “fake news.”
