
Sophia F.
Sophia Fu is a technology-driven changemaker from Carmel, Indiana. An established scientific researcher, Sophia's work in statistical machine learning, cancer diagnostics, and data science have been recognized internationally by organizations like the Society for Science, China Association for Science and Technology, U.S. Department of Defense, and Akamai Technologies. Last year, Sophia spent a summer studying abroad in Jeonju, South Korea on a full-ride scholarship from the U.S. Department of State. While in Korea, Sophia studied technology and its role in Korean culture, politics, and history. Additionally, Sophia is passionate about gender equity in STEM and serves as the president and founder of IndyINTEGIRLS. Through her leadership, IndyINTEGIRLS has successfully facilitated 30+ corporate partnerships towards funding STEM opportunities for underrepresented genders in STEM.
Another interest of Sophia's is history. As a passionate historical documentary filmmaker, Sophia's documentaries on immigration history, education policy, and labor history have been recognized and played internationally at institutions like Stanford University and the Asian American Scholar Forum and through competitions like National History Day. In the future, Sophia hopes to study a combination of history, political science, and computer science to pursue her dreams of becoming an influential figure in the realm of technology policy.
