
Emma L.
Emma is a senior at Riverside Brookfield High School in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, and she is an incoming freshman at Stanford University. She is a student passionate about the intersections of technology and impact. Emma desires to experiment and explore technology and hopes to major in computer science (CS) or symbolic systems. During the summers of 2022-2024, she participated in the Kode With Klossy program where she got her first taste of CS. Now, she has been involved in organizations such as Director of Web Development at iFeminist, Co-Director at GirlCon Tech, and Founder of her initiative, Codifica + Code, to advance gender and racial equity in STEM. At school, she is President of the Organization of Latin American Students, Girls Who Code, Cybersecurity Club, and Girl Up. Emma aspires to bridge the Latina gap in CS, and she aims to build a future where more young women can be educated and empowered. Emma's fluent in not only Spanish, but also Python, HTML, CSS, JS, Swift, Java, and she's learning C++.
