Sara K.

Sara grew up surrounded by creativity. As a young kid living in Argentina, she loved crafts and music. As she grew and discovered her passion for science, that creativity remained a cornerstone of her identity. Sara is now pursuing a biomedical engineering degree at Johns Hopkins University as a Charles R. Westgate Scholar in Engineering. She is passionate about topics surrounding heart research, poetry, and community service. Sara's interests and passions center themselves around two fields, instead of "just" the sciences or "just" art. This duality enables her to have a unique perspective on what it means to be an innovator, and she hopes to share her passions with the world. In doing so, Sara has reached a global audience. She is a published author & scientist and has been granted a US patent for one of her inventions. Sara has been named a Coca-Cola Scholar, Davidson Fellow, NCWIT Aspirations in Computing National Winner, Live Más Scholar, Disney Dreamer, Dr. Bart Kamen Scholar, and Broadcom MASTER. After obtaining her bachelor's degree, Sara plans to pursue an MD-PhD degree and lead research to advance the creation of artificial hearts. You can connect with her at sarakaufman.weebly.com!
