User's Profile Picture

Ria G.

Ria is a freshman at Stanford studying computer science and math, focused on developing AI solutions with real-world impact, particularly in healthcare. Her passion for computer science grew from a strong foundation in math, where she qualified for competitions like AIME and Math Prize for Girls. Ria honed her skills through advanced coursework and further explored applied math in the World Science Scholars (WSS) program, where she learned from Nobel Laureates and Breakthrough Prize recipients. Ria’s research reflects her curiosity and drive to solve meaningful problems. During the Research Science Institute (RSI), she developed a computational model to predict physical behavior using neural activity at the MIT McGovern Institute for Brain Research. She has also worked on similar projects such as building a neural network to screen for PTSD in nurses at the University of North Texas and applying AI algorithms to classify cancer diagnoses at Stanford AI4ALL. Her work has earned her recognition as a Science Talent Search (STS) Scholar, ISEF Grand Award Winner, and Cameron Impact Scholar Finalist. Currently, she is exploring foundational AI systems while developing an autonomous drone delivery system on campus. Beyond academics, Ria is actively involved in several creative and leadership roles. She is on the Organizing Team for TreeHacks, Stanford’s largest annual hackathon, and the Editorial Team for Stanford’s Biodesign Journal, Probe Magazine. Ria has also been writing poetry for over a decade, using it as a way to articulate her thoughts and bring to light neglected issues she cares about. She loves long road trips with family and friends, enjoying the scenic views and pop music playlists while taking the time to unwind and reconnect. Whether she’s diving into research, writing a poem, or working with others on a project, Ria approaches each pursuit with a genuine desire to create something meaningful.
