Rebecca is interested in using technology to solve societal issues. She founded Hydra Hacks in 9th grade, which became the West Coast's largest hackathon for girls (5,000+). A new extension of the organization is called Dare to Dream, an iOS app on gender equity in tech. Hydra Hacks and Dare to Dream received recognition and funding through Apple's CEO Tim Cook, NCWIT's AspireIT Impact Award, Girls Who Code, Kode with Klossy, Princeton Prize in Race Relations, and more.
Rebecca is also interested in school safety. She has developed an AI-based gunshot detection and communication device to improve response times during school shootings. The device has gained funding from the largest high school entrepreneurship competition, startup founders, and media recognition from People Magazine, NBC, ABC, and more.
