Kristal S.
As a high school senior, Kristal is the President of her school's Girls Who Code (GWC) club where she leads and organizes coding lessons to teach her peers to code in languages like HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and Python. She has collaborated with her school's public library to organize a free Coding Boot Camp to teach girls in her community to code in JavaScript.
In 2022, Kristal recognized that the Title 1 elementary school she attended in her youth did not provide students, like Kristal, the opportunity to learn to code. As a result, she began to collaborate with the principal of a local Title 1 elementary school to establish their first GWC club. Since 2023, Kristal has taught elementary school girls from underrepresented ethnic groups of STEM to code through this club.
Currently, Kristal plans to attend a 4-Year University to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. Kristal is looking forward to the next 4 years in college as she is eager to initiate her career in Computer Science.
