Kimberly H.

Kimberly Hermans is a high school computer science teacher from Woodbridge High School in Irvine, CA. She is a former Albert Einstein Fellow placed at the National Science Foundation (NSF) Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) Division of Computer and Network Systems (CNS). Kimberly has 15 years of teaching experience at the high school level, teaching math and computer science, in addition to 6 years of teaching CS at California State University, Fullerton and University of California, Irvine. Kimberly has designed and implemented a 4-year computer science pathway at her current high school, as well as serving as her district’s Career and Technical Education mentor for Information and Communications Technology. She is also currently working with Expanding Computer Education Pathways (ECEP) as their Community College Working Group facilitator. Outside of the classroom, Kimberly is a Girls Who Code and CS Honor Society advisor, is involved as a College Board Consultant and Mentor, and participates as an AP reader for AP Computer Science A. After earning a B.S. in information & computer science with a minor in mathematics and a specialization in Software Systems from the University of California, Irvine, Kimberly received a single subject credential in mathematics and CTE with an authorization in computer science in the state of California. Later, Kimberly earned an M.S. in secondary education and another M.S. in computer science from California State University, Fullerton. Kimberly is a National Board Certified Teacher in Mathematics.
