Emily T.
Emily is a senior at Desert Vista High School with aspirations in technology. She has always had a desire to learn coding and software programs and at a very early age worked with Computer Aided Design with Autodesk Inventor and Lego Mindstorm Robotics. In her middle school years, she earned a taekwondo black belt and gathers community volunteer hours by helping to instruct elementary age children at her taekwondo fitness center. She has a desire for fun and helping youth, and taekwondo helps to promote those activities through exercise and mental health. She continues to help the younger children through her guidance and extracurricular activities in high school where she regularly volunteers her time. She currently is taking as many honors, computer science technology, math and science classes as she can and is drawn to the connection between science and technology. She is currently or also has been enrolled in Engineering 1-2 at Desert Vista as well as Honors Biotech 2, AP Calculus and AP Computer Science and loves her science and math courses. Emily was enrolled in Kumon for a number of years which helped her to sharpen her math and logic skills. She has earned a certification in Java and Desktop Pro (which consists of Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word). Emily has a dream of bringing technology into our everyday life through coding. She has a dream of working with software to help humanity and apply science to healthcare. She has definite college plans for her future and has applied to Arizona State University for the study of Computer Science. Currently Emily’s coding interests are limitless. In high school classes at Desert Vista, she is learning about the scope and magnitude of software technology in the world around us. Current school projects include healthcare through biotechnology, java and python, fields of research for renewable energy and global climate monitoring, all of which are important technological fields for the future.
