Chris is a second career educator with over 25 years of service in teaching high school computer science and mathematics. Chris has been a driving force in revolutionizing computer science education, fostering inclusivity, and igniting a passion for STEM subjects among underrepresented populations. A passionate advocate for technology and education he has spearheaded initiatives to increase the number of computer science classes at Harriton High School, LMSD, from a mere 3 to an impressive 10 class sections, thereby accommodating the growing demand for STEM education. Moreover, Chris’ tireless efforts led to a significant rise in the enrollment of underrepresented populations in computer science courses, breaking down barriers and fostering diversity in the classroom. He has further sought to nurture young minds and instill in them a love for computational thinking and problem-solving, as an active team member involved in organizing and running summer STEM immersion camps for over 250 middle school students annually, for the past 5 years. By focusing on attracting underrepresented populations of students, Chris has played a pivotal role in inspiring the next generation of diverse STEM leaders. Through hands-on activities, mentorship, and real-world experiences, Chris has left an indelible mark on countless young minds, igniting a passion for discovery and exploration and the yearning to continue this STEM learning at the high school level. Chris was also instrumental in statewide educational initiatives as a collaborator on a Pennsylvania state education website for a teacher toolkit of resources for Artificial Intelligence, which is playing a vital role in equipping educators with the tools and resources needed to integrate AI and emerging technologies into their curricula.
