Akua is a passionate and driven data scientist with a strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, and machine learning. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Ghana and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Applied Statistics and Data Science at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. With a keen interest in leveraging data for impactful solutions, Akua has worked on projects ranging from machine learning applications in healthcare to data-driven decision-making in public service. One of her proudest achievements was her undergraduate research, where she applied machine learning algorithms to predict heart disease, enhancing her technical expertise in model evaluation and performance tuning. Beyond her academic and technical skills, Akua is a dedicated leader and mentor. As President of the University of Ghana Actuarial and Statistics Society, she organized events, secured sponsorships, and led initiatives to enhance student engagement. She has also played key roles in international programs such as Teens in AI Ghana and the Unesco-India-Africa Hackathon, advocating for diversity and inclusion in tech. Looking ahead, Akua aspires to be a top-tier data scientist, using her skills to drive innovation and solve real-world problems. She envisions contributing to mission-driven technology initiatives, particularly in healthcare and finance, and hopes to inspire more young women to pursue careers in STEM
